Liverpool supporters are rejoicing on Tuesday night as their team scored four unanswered goals to dump Barcelona out of the Champions League on a famous night inside one of England's most historic footballing arenas.

A brace apiece from Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum, three of them coming in the second half, saw the rampant Reds thoroughly shellack Lionel Messi and Barcelona to overcome a 3-0 deficit from the first leg in one of the most memorable Champions League ties ever seen at Anfield.

Even with Messi's mercurial talents leading their line, Barcelona couldn't threaten Alisson's goal with any sustained muster as Liverpool outperformed their opposite numbers to a man throughout the 90 minutes, as the Anfield crowd roared their approval with eardrum-shattering intensity.

Some of the most vitriolic chanting was directed at Anfield old boy Luis Suarez, who came off second best in practically every duel with PFA Player of the Year Virgil Van Dijk. The Uruguayan appeared to be an increasingly forlorn figure as the game progressed.

In the end it was a piece of inspiration from young England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, as he directed a quick corner into Origi's path to slam home his second - and Liverpool's fourth - sending Liverpool fans into a particular brand of ecstasy which hasn't been experienced since the 'Miracle in Istanbul' 14 years ago.

Twitter, of course, wasn't around back then but here is what has made it to the web in the aftermath of their latest European comeback.
