mo4ch:>Charges dropped: Conor McGregor avoids civil lawsuit after phone smash accuser drops charges | Mo4ch News

A civil lawsuit against UFC superstar Conor McGregor was dropped after the man whose phone he allegedly smashed and stole dropped the charges against the Irish MMA fighter.

Ahmed Abdirzak was initially seeking damages of $15,000 after McGregor allegedly took his mobile phone outside a Miami nightclub and proceeded to smash it on the floor and stamp on it, before picking it up and walking off.

ESPN has since revealed that Abdirzak had dropped the charges, but also noted that McGregor will still face criminal charges for the incident.

The former two-division world champion has filed pleas of not guilty on his felony charge of "robbery sudden snatching" and on his misdemeanor charge of "criminal mischief".

The last year has been a turbulent one for McGregor, who avoided jail after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct following his infamous attack on a minibus at UFC 223. As part of his negotiated punishment, he completed five days of community service and took part in anger management courses.

And last month McGregor was named by the New York Times as the subject of an investigation into allegations of sexual assault in a hotel in Dublin.

Since then, McGregor has posted inflammatory messages in angry social media exchanges with UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who defeated him at UFC 229 last year.

On Monday it was reported that McGregor had been involved in an incident in a Dublin pub after a man taunted him over his defeat to Nurmagomedov.
