The UFC will step in to mediate in an “unacceptable” social media exchange between two infamous mixed martial artists – Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor – after the Irishman got personal and insulted the wife of his nemesis.
“I am aware of the recent social media exchange between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. The ongoing situation has escalated to a level that is unacceptable. As such, we are taking the necessary steps to reach out to both athlete camps and this situation is being addressed by all parties internally,” Dana White said in a statement.
The president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship failed to mention how exactly the martial arts promotion company will mediate in the crisis between the two athletes, considering that McGregor announced his retirement last month with 21-4 record, after losing the lightweight title to Nurmagomedov in an epic fight last October.

The same day, McGregor also called the Russian a “scurrying rat” while demanding a rematch.
Irritated by McGregor’s repeated insults and personal prejudice, the Dagestan native Nurmagomedov labeled the Irishman a “hypocrite” and a “rapist” in a tweeted response on Wednesday. While the Russian has stayed silent ever since, McGregor has toned down his tweet convulsions, telling his virtual followers that he wants to “move forward, with my fans of all faiths and all backgrounds.”
