Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni has posted a picture thanking well wishers and sporting a neck brace and an abrasion-laden face upon leaving hospital after being struck by a car while cycling in Mallorca.
La Albiceleste head coach Scaloni was mowed down on Tuesday morning in Palma, the Mallorcan capital, and was treated in a local university hospital mainly for cuts and bruises, before being released home.
"Thank you very much for the messages received, a couple of points and home! Thank You All," the former West Ham defender posted on Twitter, with plasters covering visibly fresh bruises and cuts on his face.
Scaloni, who won La Liga and Copa del Rey honors during an eight-year career with Deportivo La Coruna, has been in charge since former boss Jorge Sampaoli was sacked after a disastrous World Cup 2018 campaign during which Scaloni served as assistant.
After being confirmed as full-time coach in November, Scaloni will take charge of the team during the 2019 Copa America. Scaloni lives in Mallorca after spending time during the later stages of his playing career on the on the Balearic island.
