CROWS captain Taylor Walker and key defender Daniel Talia will miss Adelaide’s home-and-away closer with West Coast on Sunday to avoid aggravating injuries.
Walker, who has both toe and ankle concerns, has been replaced in the Crows squad by rookie-listed forward by Jonathon Beech.
Talia, who has carried groin concerns and suffered an ankle injury against Sydney last Friday, will be replaced in the match 22 by defender Kyle Hartigan.
Adelaide has called up novice ruckman Reilly O’Brien to the 25-man squad that will be trimmed to the match 22 on Friday evening.
AFL: In what is sure to be talking point throughout the week, Callum Mills was awarded a 50m penalty that led to a Sydney goal late in the final term on Friday night.
Controversy costs Crows
Crows fitness coach Matt Hass has declared a no-risk theme with Walker and Talia.
“Both Taylor and Daniel were close to playing, but didn’t quite come up in time,” Hass said.
“Taylor’s toe flared up a bit on the track this week and Daniel’s movement has been restricted somewhat by that ankle.
“We weren’t comfortable risking them for this week, but we’re confident they’ll be fine for our first final.”
Top-ranked Adelaide will finish the home-and-away series first or second and command home field for a double-chance qualifying final, most probably on Thursday, September 7 at Adelaide Oval.
The match at Subiaco Oval will mark the AFL closing for the venue.
