Tropical Depression 6 has formed just off the coast Tampa early Monday morning, the National Hurricane Center reports.
The depression is moving east at around 8 mph and this general motion is expected to continue Monday, according to the NHC.
A Tropical Storm Watch means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area, in this case within the next few hours.
The center of the storm is not heading toward South Florida, but outer bands are expected to make an impact later today.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for parts of Southwest Florida, including Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties.
The center of the tropical storm is located around 75 miles west of Tampa.Source: world
