The third and final Presidential Debate between Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton takes place on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. It will be on all the major television stations without commercials. It will also be streamed online. The location is at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. Only Trump and Clinton will be involved because no other candidate qualified by meeting the 15 percent threshold.
Chris Wallace, the anchor of Fox News Sunday, will moderate solo. The second debate earlier this month had a different format. Anderson Cooper of CNN and Martha Raddatz of ABC shared the duties in the town hall format. Both moderators were indeed needed to keep order between both candidates. The first debate was moderated by Leslie Holt of NBC Nightly News.
It seems that viewership declined from the first to the second debate. The first debate had a viewership of 84 million viewers. The viewership of the second debate dropped to 66.5 million people. It will be interesting to see if the number will continue to drop, or if the number will increase since it is the final debate before the Presidential Election on November 8.
Format of third debate
The format of the third debate will be more like the first debate. It will not be in a town hall style like the second debate was. Chris Wallace will divide the questions into six 15-minute segments. All questions will cover topics selected by Wallace himself. Trump and Clinton will have just two minutes to answer the questions they are given. They will also have a chance to respond to their opponent’s answer. Six main discussion topics for the final debate include the following areas:
- Entitlements and debt
- The Supreme Court
- The economy
- Foreign policy
- Fitness of the candidates to serve as president
Clinton won the coin toss to be the first to answer in all three debates. As soon as the previous debates concluded, one of the first questions discussed was, “Who won the debate?” That question is sure to be asked again as soon as the final debate is over.
