Texas Ranger star Adrian Beltre was ejected in the eighth inning of a 22-10 blowout at the hands of the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. The game was all but decided, the stands had largely emptied, and there was very little reason to stay tuned in as the Rangers fell to 49-52.
But Beltre’s ejection proved to be reason enough to stay tuned in, for anyone who made it that long. Here’s what happened.
I had never seen someone ejected for dragging an on-deck circle so thank you Adrian Beltre pic.twitter.com/8Trb8dbjN7

Beltre, understandably a little peeved at being told off in the eighth inning of a legitimate massacre, decided he would comply with the umpire’s wishes, but on his own terms. The umpire, understandably annoyed that Beltre decided to make a big thing out of it, tossed him. Beltre’s reaction certainly warranted an ejection, but he pretty indisputably won the interaction.
Here’s another angle, if you are interested.

Beltre and the on-deck circle went on a pretty impressive little journey together.

And then, of course, Beltre’s reaction post-game was fantastic as well.
