The 52-year-old man authorities believe killed three people at an Alabama mobile home park Wednesday is slated to face trial in Pennsylvania for involuntary deviant sexual intercourse with a child and a series of other charges.
Authorities identified the suspect as Kenneth Dion Lever, who was able to escape into the nearby woods after the fatal shooting unfolded in Gardendale just before 8 a.m. Police continued to search for the gunman into the afternoon and advised the public to phone 911 instead of approaching him because “he is considered armed and dangerous.”
Lever, who has also reportedly lived in Florida, has a long history of arrests, many of which are for drug possession. His rap sheet also boasts a series of assault, harassment and robbery charges, according to court documents.
The Lower Windsor Township Police Department also arrested Lever in two separate sexual assault cases on Sept. 28 and Oct. 13, 2015, court records show.
Lever was charged with involuntary deviant sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent sexual assault of a child, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age, corruption of minors and dissemination of explicit sexual material of a minor, according to court documents.
He posted his $100,000 bail in the first case and was arrested again several days later on Oct. 15 in the second. Lever posted an additional $100,000 bail and was later released the same day, according to the newspaper.
The cases are scheduled for trial in York County Court of Common Pleas on Sept. 11.
Police said the suspect was able to escape after the shooting into nearby woods.

The suspect’s ex-wife, Dana Lever, additionally sought a protective order against Lever in December 2016, claiming the man was stalking and harassing her and her young child.
Dana Level claimed her ex-husband was abusing her 11-year-old daughter during their unsupervised visits, according to documents cited by AL.com. The girl had been seeing a therapist, who reached out to the mother with some concerns.
“My daughter has a very different disposition when she returns home,” she wrote. “She is very clingy to me and will not let me leave her. She wants to sleep in my bed and she wants to sleep with the lights on.”
Police lifted a shelter in place order around 10 a.m. and believe the shooting was domestic-related.
Lever has blonde hair, blue eyes and was last seen wearing a camouflage T-shirt and blue jeans.
