With plenty of transfer talk still surrounding the Spain international striker, the flames have again been stoked – this time by an unlikely source

Diego Costa continues to be linked relentlessly with a move from Chelsea back to Atletico Madrid, and the son of Diego Simeone, the Spanish side’s head coach, has done little to quell such talk.

Posting on Instagram, he produced a picture of himself playing for River Plate next to the forward with the simple phrase: “Admiration” the tag.

With his father apparently keen to re-sign the 28-year-old attacker, this has simply sent fans into overdrive believing a deal could yet be done.

Diego Costa has been unsettled at Stamford Bridge since the turn of the year, when rumours of a potential move to the Chinese Super League emerged.

Nevertheless, he played a leading role as Chelsea recaptured the Premier League crown, scoring 20 times in 35 top-tier outings for Antonio Conte’s side. 

A move to Atleti, however, is blocked by FIFA sanctions that have prevented the Spanish club from registering new players until January.
