La Rojita may already be through to the Under-21 Euros semi-finals but we are still backing them to record a comfortable win in their final group game
Spain began this tournament as favourites and their two performances so far have underlined why many think they are the best team in the competition.
The 5-0 thrashing of Macedonia in their opening game was followed up by a hard-fought 3-1 win over a highly-fancied Portugal side, meaning that Albert Celades’ men are into the semi-finals with a game to spare.
Their final group match is against a Serbia side who lost their first game against the Portuguese 2-0, before needing an injury-time goal to scrape a 2-2 draw with Macedonia – a result which guaranteed Spain’s place in the last four.
With virtually no hope of progressing in the tournament, the Serbians will be aiming to restore some pride in the final game of Group B and they will take heart from the fact that Spain are likely to make a number of changes.
The bad news for the Serbs is that La Rojita’s squad is full of talented players and despite the expected rotation, bet365 price Spain as clear favourites at 8/15 (1.53). Their opponents, meanwhile, can be backed at 5/1 (6.00) while the draw is offered at 3/1 (4.00).
Eight goals in two matches make Spain comfortably the top scorers in the tournament, with the four teams in Group A only managing ten goals between them by comparison. That puts into perspective just how impressive La Rojita have been in the final third and also goes a long way to explaining why we find them priced at just 4/7 (1.57) to score two or more.
There are, however, two clear ways of backing a win for Spain at healthy-looking odds with Spain half time/full time priced at 13/10 (2.30) and Spain to win with a -1 handicap available at 7/5 (2.40).
Both selections have paid out in both games so far, and despite the changes to the starting XI, the Spanish team should still be too strong for their opponents.
