Police rescue pit bull trapped in hot car in FL – WWSB ABC 7

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (WWSB) – The Boynton Beach Police Department received a call on Monday morning regarding a dog stuck in a hot car.

A Good Samaritan called 911 to report the incident.

A pit bull was trapped inside a car that was off and had all the windows up. The car was believed to be at least 110 degrees inside, according to police.

Police arrived on the scene around 10:30 a.m. and tried to find the owner by going to local stores but they had no luck. Therefore, they used a baton to break a window and rescue the dog.

The owner showed up 10 to 15 minutes after and told officers that she just ran into the bank because the drive-thru was closed.

She was cited with animal cruelty and got her dog back after officers educated her about the law.

An investigator said, “Most of the time she encounters dogs left in vehicles, the owners are otherwise responsible, loving and good caretakers. They just don’t know the law or they think that it’s OK if it’s only for a minute. We are here to tell you that it is not. Ever. For many reasons…”
