Police Release New Sketch of Suspect in Indiana Teens' Slayings – NBC Chicago

Months after a grainy photograph showing a man believed to be connected to the slayings of two northern Indiana girls was released, authorities believe they have a clearer image of the man considered to be a main suspect in the case.

Police released a new sketch Monday amid the months-long investigation into the deaths of 14-year-old Liberty German and 13-year-old Abigail Williams.

The person depicted in the sketch is described as a white man, standing between 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 180 to 200 pounds. He also has reddish-brown hair.

Authorities noted the hat included in the sketch may not be accurate, but they “ask that you focus on the person’s facial features.”

“The composite drawing is the result of information received during the course of this ongoing investigation,” police said in a statement.

German and Williams, of Delphi, vanished Feb. 13 along a trail near their hometown about 60 miles northwest of Indianapolis. Their bodies were found the next day in a wooded area.

Authorities had previously urged people to study two grainy photographs of a man they considered to be the main suspect in the killings and an audio recording of a male voice saying “down the hill.”

The photos and audio came from Liberty’s cellphone. Police have hailed her as a hero for recording potentially crucial evidence.

A reward in excess of $230,000 is being offered for information leaidng to an arrest and conviction, police said.

Anyone with information about the murders or the person depicted in the sketch should call the tip line at (844) 459-5786. Tips can also be emailed to abbyandlibbytip@cacoshrf.com
