Our tipster thinks that the value could lie in siding with Jason Kreis’ hosts ahead of their crucial MLS clash against Greg Vanney’s charges
Toronto were displaced at the top of Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference after suffering a bitterly disappointing defeat at the hands of Dallas at the weekend.
The Canadians crashed to a 3-1 loss against Oscar Pareja’s men on Saturday night and they will be keen to return to winning ways when they travel to take on Orlando City on Wednesday night.
Greg Vanney’s men, however, will face a stiff test, for Jason Kreis’ side are just six points behind them and their confidence will have been renewed by a crucial 1-0 win against Real Salt Lake in Utah on Saturday night.
Orlando started the season with five consecutive home wins, but Kreis’ team have lost their way recently, taking full points from just one of their last six outings at Camping World Stadium and they will be determined to close the gap on Toronto with a vital victory in this match.
Paddy Power offer 6/4 (2.50) that Orlando claim back-to-back MLS victories for the first time since April, with 7/4 (2.75) that Toronto take a potentially significant step towards automatic qualification for the Final Series with a win. A draw can be backed at 12/5 (3.40) ahead of Wednesday’s crucial clash.
Orlando have scored fewer goals – 21 – than any other side in the Eastern Conference’s top six, but there has been plenty of goalmouth action in City’s recent home matches. Indeed, there have been more than two goals scored in four of the last six home matches for Kreis’ charges, with their most recent match in Florida ending a thrilling 3-3 draw against Montreal Impact.
Toronto, too, have seen three of their last four away games feature more than two goals and there is 4/5 (1.80) that there are at least three goals scored when this rivalry is renewed, and 15/8 (2.88) that there are more than three goals – a selection that would have landed in both of Orlando’s last two home games.
Kreis’ side will hope that home comfort can help them to a vital victory against Vanney’s side, for City have suffered defeat in just one of their 10 MLS matches on home soil so far this season, finding the net in nine of their 11 home fixtures in all competitions.
Toronto have recently suffered back-to-back away defeats in MLS and the 6/4 (2.50) for Kreis’ charges to heap yet more misery upon the Canadians by taking all three points from this clash could well offer decent value for punters given City’s solid record on home soil.
