The Colorado Avalanche will be sporting brand-new “throwback” uniforms for the 2017-18 season.
On Wednesday, the National Hockey League and Adidas revealed new ADIZERO Authentic jerseys for all 31 NHL teams, designed to be lighter weight, more durable and made with more breathable fabric to keep players cool.
The new Avalanche uniforms are inspired from the team’s inaugural season uniform (1995). The signature peak hemlines on the front, arm striping, and team colors are the same. But a bold silver trim has been added to honor Colorado’s mining industry history. And in addition, a Colorado “C” has been imprinted on both shoulders as a reference to the state flag.
The jerseys reduce crest weight up to 46 percent and are up to 19 percent lighter than the current NHL jersey.
Adidas clima technology in the jersey fabrics allow for enhanced breathability and the jerseys are also constructed for better durability than the current NHL uniforms—up to 27 percent higher in burst testing and 72 percent higher in abrasion testing.
The new sweaters will be available for purchase in September.
