Rough beginnings for Moore in Ohio
In late September, Michael Moore announced via Facebook that he was set to perform at the Midland Theater in Newark, Ohio. The town in Ohio is commonly referred to as the heart of Trump County. Locals were not particularly in support of the intended performance. The community board, which oversees the theater, informed Moore that his planned show was dubbed as being “too controversial” and officials were afraid that giving him the opportunity to perform there would result in losing long-standing patrons.
Moore responded to the communities board’s refusal by stating it was a compliment and decided to perform at a show in Clinton County Ohio, at the Murphy Theater in Wilmington. This is another county with heavy support for Donald Trump, having over 25,000 voters with less than 500 being Democrats.
