It is being reported that former Glee star Mark Salling has died of an apparent suicide. He was 35.
According to TMZ Salling’s body was found in the Los Angeles River near Sunland. Though his cause of death is yet to be confirmed, TMZ has been told “he may have died after hanging himself.”
Last we reported on Salling, he had pleaded guilty for being in possession of child pornography. At the time of his death of his death, Salling was awaiting sentencing — he faced 4 to 7 years in prison, with 20 years of supervised release.
In August (2017) — prior to striking a plea deal — Salling hurt himself in a failed suicide attempt. TMZ reports the Glee star was “in the bedroom of his L.A. home… when he cut both of his wrists.” In a panic, Salling “screamed for his roommate, who discovered him bleeding and called 911.” Following the incident, Salling’s lawyer continuously denied what happened, saying: “Mark is physically fine and Mark is spending his time atoning and working on himself.”
From 2009 to 2015, Salling played Noah “Puck” Puckerman on Fox’s Glee experiencing much success. Salling, however, is not the only cast member Glee has lost. In 2013, Cory Monteith — known for his role as Finn Hudson — was found dead in his room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver. Monteith had struggled with substance abuse from the age of 13, and found himself in and out of rehabilitation centers often. He ultimately died of of a toxic combination of heroin and alcohol — he was 31.
Naya Rivera — known for her role as Santana Lopez — has also experienced her fair share of troubles since Glee‘s end. Late last year, Rivera was arrested and charged with domestic battery on her husband Ryan Dorsey in Chesapeake, West Virginia.
