Having been the difference at the Vicente Calderon, our tipster makes the case for the visitors’ leading frontman to hit another Champions League goal
Leicester City’s players may well have been satisfied with just a one-goal deficit from their first leg clash with Atletico Madrid but Craig Shakespeare’s side will need to go on the offensive if they are to stand a chance of qualifying for the Champions League.
The Foxes overturned a first leg defeat in the last 16 of course, knocking out Europa League holders Sevilla but on that occasion they had an away goal to rely on. That’s not the case here though as they face one of the toughest defences in the competition.
The hosts’ status as underdogs does mean that there are some sizeable prices available on their leading men finding the net. Jamie Vardy is an 11/2 (6.50) shot to score first and 7/4 (2.75) with dabblebet to find the net at anytime for the fourth time in seven matches.
Islam Slimani is a 21/10 (3.10) shot to score although the Algerian missed the weekend game against Crystal Palace and Shinji Okazaki could be restored to his usual starting spot alongside Vardy for the Foxes. The Japan international is 8/1 (9.0) to strike first and 11/4 (3.75) to net anytime.
Riyad Mahrez has often saved his best performances this season for the continental stage, netting four goals in eight Champions League starts this term. That’s just one fewer than his Premier League tally of five goals, where he’s been involved 30 times. The 26-year-old is 14/5 (3.80) to extend his impressive scoring run in this competition.
The most potent attacking weapon on show though, surely comes in the form of Antoine Griezmann. The France international was rested at the weekend and, having struck the only goal of the first meeting, looks a solid bet at 23/20 (2.15) to find the net at anytime in this reverse fixture.
A danger from free kicks as well as Atleti’s primary penalty taker, the 26-year-old has struck 15 times in La Liga and five times in the Champions League this term so quotes of 23/20 (2.15) look appealing about a forward who will surely get plenty of chances on the break as Leicester look for a goal at the other end.
Those seeking a bigger price could take the 7/2 (4.50) about Griezmann breaking the deadlock, knowing that dabblebet will pay an additional 10% cash boost on first scorer selections if both teams find the net during the match, that tops this potential payout up to almost 4/1 (5.0).
