The Galaxy have inked the 24-year-old forward, who has had stints with the Philadelphia Union, Montreal Impact, Portland Timbers and Columbus Crew

The LA Galaxy have signed veteran forward Jack McInerney, the MLS side announced Tuesday.

The 24-year-old forward was last with the Portland Timbers, playing a season with the Western Conference side before being waived prior to the 2017 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Jack is a young and experienced player in MLS who has shown that he can score goals in this league,” Galaxy general manager Pete Vagenas said in a press release. “He will give our team valuable depth at the forward position throughout the season. We look forward to Jack joining the team this week ahead of Sunday’s game.”

McInerney was the seventh pick of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft by the Philadelphia Union, where he played until 2014. He scored 25 goals in total for the Union, with a career-high 12 coming in 2013. However, the attacker was traded the next season to the Montreal Impact and went on to score 11 goals over a season and a half with the Canadian side.

The young attacker found himself on the move again later in 2015, getting traded to the Columbus Crew. He then joined the Portland Timbers for the 2016 campaign, where he played in 24 games but started in only eight, scoring five goals.

In total, McInerney has scored 43 times and added six assists over 167 MLS games.

The Galaxy, who have started the season with two wins and four losses, next play the Seattle Sounders on April 23.
