FORECAST IN DETAIL
We have a perceptible increase in humidity today, but it turns especially muggy Friday into Saturday when the remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy appear. These remnants are likely to produce showers and storms with locally heavy rain. After that, it’s smooth sailing, with a much drier, milder pattern for at least the first half of next week.
Today (Thursday): The morning should see a good deal of sun while mainly high clouds increase in the afternoon. That does not help much in holding down the heat, with highs mainly in the lower 90s. An isolated shower can’t be ruled out, but most should stay out in the mountains. Wind are very light from the northwest. Confidence: High
Tonight: Clouds slowly but surely increase overnight, courtesy of Tropical Storm Cindy. Scattered showers become more likely as dawn approaches. Light south winds persist through the night. Lows only fall to the low to mid-70s. Confidence: Medium-High
Tomorrow (Friday): Tropical moisture streaming into the region pushes humidity to more uncomfortable levels. Showers and thunderstorms are an ever-present threat, but there should be plenty of breaks as well. In any case, umbrellas are a good friend. Breezes pick up briskly from the southwest (10-20 mph) with stronger gusts in thunderstorms. How frequently showers occur determines whether your area sees mid-80s or upper 80s for highs. Confidence: Medium-High
Tomorrow night: Thunderstorms are likely, as is the risk of locally heavy downpours, so be careful while driving. Lows fall to the lower 70s in most areas. Confidence: Medium-High
A LOOK AHEAD
Saturday is likely to start out with a fair amount of showers and a few thunderstorms. By afternoon, a much-welcome cold front should start pushing across the region and scouring out most of the showers. Highs are still likely to reach the mid-80s, and if things clear out fast, upper 80s are possible. Clearing and breezy conditions overnight bring cooler temp. Lows range through the 60s with warmer reading in the city and points south. Confidence: Medium
Tranquil weather is back on Sunday with mainly sunny skies, lower humidity, and highs in the low-to-mid 80s. Overnight is even more comfy with lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s but mid-60s downtown. Confidence: Medium-High
Monday is another in what should be a string of fine days, with partly sunny skies, highs in the low to mid-80s, and relatively low humidity Confidence: Medium-High
