AFTER the trash talk world tour and the ‘F*** YOU’ suit, after the early contest and the ultimate class of Floyd Mayweather, came respect.
A nasty, low rent build up where Conor McGregor and Mayweather threw tons of mud at each other in a bid to sell more PPV subs, finally gave way to a modicum of class after their much anticipated mega fight in Las Vegas.
McGregor, the vanquished, was quick to praise Mayweather asd the pair hugged after the boxing champion advanced to a 50-0 career record by beating UFC’s most famous name.
McGregor started strongly before gassing out in the 10th round and earned praise from Mayweather.

MayMac’s show of respect
“He’s a tough competitor and I think we gave the fans what they wanted to see,” said Mayweather.
“I told them that I owed them for the Pacquiao fight (where he was accused of running away from Manny pacquiao in his 49th bout) and I must come straight ahead and give a fancy show and that’s what I gave them.
“He’s a lot better than what I thought he was. He used different angles, he was a tough competitor but I was the better man tonight.
“I chose the right dance partner to dance with. Conor McGregor you’re a helluva champion and to the country of Ireland, we love you guys.”

McGregor had an interesting compliment for his rival.
“I turned him into a Mexican tonight. He fought a like a Mexican!”
McGregor’s statement was taken to mean he made Mayweather come out and fight, rather than stay reserved and as he has done in most of his recent fights.
McGregor felt he took the early rounds easily but as he tapped away it always seemed as if Mayweather was keeping his rival at distance, waiting for him to run out of steam.
Mayweather never looked rattled.

Mayweather speaks post fight
“He’s composed,” said McGregor. “He’s not that fast, he’s not that powerful but boy is he composed.
“He was making me throw and he was patient with his shots.
“He’s a lot more composed under the shots, You have to give it to him, that’s what 50 pro fights will give you.
“I’ve got to give him full respect — fair play to him, what a great career he’s had.”
While it was plain to see that Mcgregor’s time was up in the 10th as Mayweather moved in for the kill, the Irishman griped with the decision to stop the fight; clearly the right call.
“I get a bit wobbly when I’m tired and floaty,” he said. “He should have let me keep going … I was just a little fatigued. I thought it had the early rounds, let me stumble back my corner. I don’t know which way I feel to be honest.:”
