HE’S leading their pack towards a first finals appearance in eight years and on Monday night Nathan Brown was rewarded by claiming Parramatta’s Ken Thornett Medal for the Eels player of the year.
The stocky lock forward, who only joined the Eels this year from South Sydney, was also recognised by the fans after being voted the Blue and Gold Army Members’ Player of the Year.
Victory over Brown’s former side on Friday night at ANZ Stadium will deliver the Eels a top-four finish, which is almost unthinkable after the salary cap chaos that ruined their 2016 campaign.
Injured fullback Clint Gutherson claimed the Jack Gibson NRL Coaches’ Award for his strong performances throughout 2017, while the club paid a special tribute to retiring veterans Jeff Robson and Isaac De Gois for their contributions to rugby league.
