Broncos place two rookies, one veteran on non-football injury list

Broncos rookie quarterback Chad Kelly, tight end Jake Butt and outside linebacker Shaquil Barrett will be placed on the Broncos’ non-football injury list when training camp begins Thursday. Kyle Peko, who is recovering from a fracture in his foot, will be on the team’s physically unable to perform (PUP) list, an NFL source told The Denver Post.

Kelly, the Broncos No. 253 pick in the draft, recently shed the cast on right (throwing) wrist. Kelly injured the wrist ahead of the NFL draft.

Butt is recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament that he suffered his senior season at Michigan.

And Barrett is mending from a hip injury that he suffered while working out on his own during the offseason.

Peko broke his foot during organized team activities and underwent surgery.

The Broncos also waived/NFI linebacker Josh Banderas, an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska.
