The Toffees have made some eye-catching moves this summer but with the future of Romelu Lukaku still in doubt, will they secure a top-six spot?
There has been very little downtime for Everton this summer as the Merseyside club seem determined to get plenty of their transfer business done early with an European campaign on the horizon.
Having brought in former Ajax captain Davy Klaassen, striker Sandro Ramirez and Michael Keane to bolster the squad as well as Jordan Pickford, Ronald Koeman’s side will surely have ambitions of improving on last season’s seventh place Premier League finish.
A top six spot is 11/4 (3.75) with bet365 although the club could also have a full blown Europa League campaign to contend with too if they make it to the group stage from the third qualification round, which gets underway on the 27th July.
The same firm go 25/1 (26.0) that Everton win the Europa League, while Arsenal – the only other Premier League side in the competition – head the betting at 9/1 (10.0). Both those prices are currently the best available on the market.
The Blues are very much viewed as the “best of the rest” when it comes to the top six market at this point, with the likes of Arsenal (1/4) and Liverpool (2/9) expected to ensure the top end of the table has a familiar feel about it but any potential improvement from the Toffees could hinge on the future of their star asset.
Romelu Lukaku has long been rumoured to be making a big-money switch back to Stamford Bridge, with Antonio Conte seemingly unconvinced by Diego Costa’s long term place in the team although a return to Atletico Madrid for him has been complicated by the Spanish club’s transfer ban for this summer.
With 25 goals to his name in the last campaign, the Belgium international looks set to be one of the biggest transfer fees of the next few months if he departs Goodison Park and bet365 go 11/2 (6.50) that he tops the scoring charts in the 2017-18 season.
The Premier League champions aren’t the only side to be linked with the 24-year-old though, although Chelsea are Paddy Power’s 4/9 (1.44) favourites to land his signature, Manchester United are listed at 5/2 (3.50).
It’s 15/2 (8.50) that Lukaku remains at Everton at the end of the summer transfer window.
Could the Toffees replace their frontman with a familiar face? Paddy Power also have a market on where Wayne Rooney will end up this summer and it’s just 1/2 (1.50) that the United striker heads back to his boyhood club and 5/2 (3.50) that he stays at Old Trafford.
