Our tipster takes a look at the outright market and suggests that Arsene Wenger’s Gunners could represent good value to win the competition this term

Arsenal are aiming to follow in the footsteps of Manchester United by claiming the Europa League crown this season.

The north Londoners will take their place in this competition for the first time in more than two decades after their fifth place finish in the Premier League last season saw Arsene Wenger’s men fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Europa League winners, of course, are afforded automatic qualification for the Champions League in the following campaign – an opportunity grasped by Jose Mourinho’s men last term – and, as such, the Gunners may well view this competition as a gateway back to the top table of European football.

Wenger’s men have developed a happy knack of winning Cup competitions, having lifted the FA Cup in three of the last four seasons and the north Londoners are dabblebet’s 9/1 (8.0) second favourites to secure the silverware in their first foray into this tournament in its current format.

Arsenal celebrate

Italian giants AC Milan have struggled to find their best form in recent seasons, but Vincenzo Montella’s charges are the market leaders. The Serie A outfit have certainly shown some promise so far this summer, most notably enjoying a thumping 4-0 win against German champions Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup.

Milan are chalked up as 7/1 (8.0) favourites to mark their return to major European competition for the first time since 2013-14 by winning the Europa League this term.

There are a number of sides available at 20/1 (21.0) including Milan’s compatriots, Lazio, as well as La Liga duo Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao. Ligue 1’s Olympique Lyonnais are also priced up at 20/1 (21.0), as are Russian outfit Zenit St Petersburg.

Ronald Koeman’s Everton must overcome Slovakian side, MFK Ruzomberok, to take their place in the group stages of the competition, but the men from Merseyside have invested heavily in their squad over the summer and, if the former Netherlands international prioritises this competition, the Toffees may offer decent value at 25/1 (26.0).

Punters looking at this market must, of course, consider that a number of clubs currently harbouring Champions League ambitions will parachute into the Europa League as the competition continues and those teams may well have a significant bearing on the outright market later in the campaign.

Arsenal, though, look to be a solid enough selection at this early stage, given that Wenger will be determined to see his side return to the Champions League as quickly as possible, while the 67-year-old boss would love to claim the first major European trophy of his managerial career.

As such, dabblebet’s 9/1 (10.0) quote for Arsenal to win the Europa League could well prove to be a solid selection for punters.
