TUNIS, Oct 19 (KUNA) — Acting Chairman of Kuwait Audit Bureau and Chairman of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) Adel Al-Sarawi urged more efforts on Wednesday to upgrade the mechanisms of audit work in Arab countries to respond to the new challenges.
Speaking at the opening session of the 12th ARABOSAI general assembly, Al-Sarawi added that the new challenges require greater synergy to enhance the efficiency of member institutions.
He also underlined the importance of partnering with relevant regional and international institutions to share best practices and latest developments in audit work.
For his part, ARABOSAI Secretary General Abdullatif Al-Kharrat said that the 12th general assembly provides an opportunity for evaluating the organization’s activities and the prospects for future action.
The conferees would also discuss several key issues relevant to joint action and capacity-building programs for member institutions, he said.
The Kuwait-based ARABOSAI was established in 1976 with the main goals of encouraging exchanges of ideas, viewpoints, experiences, studies, and research among the member institutions in the field of auditing and work to promote auditing in both scientific and practical terms, and working toward raising awareness within the Arab nations of the importance of auditing in order to strengthen the role of SAIs in carrying out their missions.
It also aims at organizing and strengthening cooperation between ARABOSAI and the institutions and specialized organizations of the League of Arab States, INTOSAI, and other organizations-both international and regional-whose activities relate to auditing.(end)
