2017 Triple Bypass ride canceled due to forest fires

The 29th annual Triple Bypass bicycle ride has been canceled due to forest fires, organizers announced Thursday.

The event, originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, is an annual one- or two-day ride between Evergreen and Avon.

“There are fires in both Eagle and Summit Counties with evacuations ordered while fire crews continue to fight the fire at the time of this release,” organizers wrote Thursday on the event’s Facebook page. “Our paramount concern is the safety or our riders, volunteers and emergency personnel.”

Organizers will donate the ride meals and beverages to those fighting the fire, according to the website. They added that they will plan on bringing the event back in 2018, according to the website.
